Throwing shadows

Just taken photo ready for our church Christmas card, which you can see below. The little figures are made from banana leaves by a women’s group in Rwanda. I love the way that these tiny figures throw up such huge shadows. The figures may be from Rwanda, but the shadows are here in London.

When we preach we delve into an ancient story, and make it our business to shed its light on the contemporary world. Our words may be tiny, humble and roughly hewn – like my banana leaf figures. However, in some mysterious way God throws the shadows far and wide into the hidden corners of people’s lives.
