A wordsmith’s holiday?

By the time you read this I shall, God-willing, be part way to Normandy. One of the joys of foreign travel is savouring the delights of  translations for the ‘benefit’ of English-speaking visitors. This has brought such gems as “roasted cock and vaporised potatoes” on a Parisian menu, and the gem below. The sign was actually photographed on the road up from Islamabad into the Murree hills in Pakistan, and reads: ‘do not sproad litter about, this negates an enlightened society’.

Will see what other gems I can bring back with me.
