An old story writ large

We love to ‘play around’ with fairy stories. They are the magnolia walls upon which any creative mind can hang their pictures. Back in 1995 James Finn Garner’s little book ‘Once upon a more enlightened time‘ was a great example of this. It featured such tales as ‘Sleeping person of a more-than-average attractiveness’ and others. By telling old tales in a new way, he threw not only the tale but the tellers into sharp relief.

Yesterday the Guardian did this in spades with their brilliant little video below. It launches their public campaign on ‘open’ journalism, and is sure to get people talking. For a further explanation you can read more here, where the paper’s Editor in chief explains how news gathering and synthesis of information is changing in the digital age.
